Syzygium polycephalum, commonly known as Gowok or Kupa, is a small to medium-sized evergreen tree in the Myrtaceae (myrtle) family. It is native to Southeast Asia, primarily found in the tropical forests of Java and Kalimantan in Indonesia.
The ripe fruits are eaten fresh, cooked, or used to make jellies and candies. In Indonesia, young shoots are occasionally consumed as a raw vegetable (lalab). Due to its attractive purple fruit clusters and colorful new growth, it is frequently cultivated as an ornamental tree in home gardens.
